We can define fiscalization in Portugal as a software-online fiscalization system. All requirements need to be conducted in POS, and data is sent online to the Tax administration. Also, a fiscal receipt is a mandatory sales document. But in Portugal, the rules are a little bit different because there we can find different types of sales documents. They are mostly called invoices, but there are different types.

For each of them, there are predefined rules about what situations and how they need to be issued, what are mandatory elements, limitations, etc. Also, special marks for each group are used, especially in the SAF-t document, to identify what type of sales document is being used.

We can summarize them as follows:

  • Regular sales receipt: Invoice (Fatura FT)
  • Invoice Receipt: Fatura Recibo FR
  • Simplified receipt: Fatura Simplificada FS
  • Credit note: NC
  • Debit note: ND
