It is about the administrative tools to combat VAT fraud in international e-commerce more effectively. The obligation refers to payment service providers in Italy that are required to maintain electronic records of cross-border payments and beneficiaries every quarter. The decree aligns Italy’s VAT fraud laws with EU regulations and will be effective January 1, 2024. It is all in accordance with the framework of the new centralized European system for collecting and exchanging payment information—the Central Electronic System of Payment Information (CESOP), aimed at detecting and combating value-added tax (VAT) fraud in cross-border internet sales of goods and services.
