The AADE has already contacted 2,900 businesses with a turnover of less than €1 million. euros that did not comply with the timetables to determine whether the delay in interconnection procedures was due to force majeure or negligence.
At the same time, checks have begun on professionals and businesses of the 35 retail sectors (taxis, farmers' markets, kiosks, etc.), which are required to have POS installed and accept card transactions as of lately.
It is reminded that obliged businesses that have not interconnected their systems or scheduled appointments within April, face fines if they cannot justify that they did not do so for reasons of force majeure. In particular, a fine is foreseen
- of 10 000eur if a business maintains a simplified accounting system;
- of 20,000eur for a double entry obligatory.
These fines are halved for businesses established in settlements with a population of up to 500 inhabitants and on islands with a population of up to 3,100 inhabitants (excluding tourist ones). In the event of a repeat offense within five years, the fines will be doubled and for each subsequent infringement shall be tripled. Finally, a reminder that as of April 1st, 35 retail sectors are required to have POS installed and accept card transactions.
