Also, in order for your company's sales to be covered by the obligation to be registered in a cash register, the sale must take place against payment in cash or against payment by credit card. All forms of electronic payments, for example, Swish, are, according to the Swedish Tax Agency, to be equated with payment by credit card.
In 2023, certain rules about exporting data in an XML file have been introduced, but the latest update states that as of January 1, 2027, cash registers must comply with the Swedish Tax Agency's regulation on requirements for cash registers (SKVFS 2021:17). That means that if a taxpayer’s cash register has a so-called journal memory, it must be able to produce registrations in the XML format.
