The Polish government has announced a series of proposed changes to the reduced Value Added Tax (VAT) rates, set to take effect on January 1, 2025. These changes aim to align with EU directives and address various sectors more effectively.
Changes are as follows:
- 0% VAT Rate: Rescue ships and lifeboats used at sea will now benefit from a 0% VAT rate.
- Clarifications: The wording for fertilizers, plant protection products, and animal feed will be clarified to ensure proper application of VAT rates.
- Menstrual Cups: The VAT rate on menstrual cups will be significantly reduced from 23% to 5%.
- Medical Devices: The 8% VAT rate for medical devices approved under previous laws will be maintained.
- Live Horses: The reduced VAT rate for live horses will be eliminated to comply with an EU directive.
- Hemp Products: The tax rate for hemp products intended for smoking or inhalation without combustion will be increased. However, hemp seed products used for medical purposes will be excluded from this tax rate increase.
