Fiscal subject related
The National Revenue Agency (NRA) of Bulgaria has carried out over 1,000 inspections of commercial establishments in winter resorts since the launch of its winter control campaign on January 3. The goal of the campaign is to ensure compliance with tax regulations and will continue until the end of the season.
Fiscal inspectors have identified 350 violations across establishments, shops, and hotels in Bansko, Razlog, Dobrinishte, Banya, Borovets, Smolyan, and Pamporovo. Common violations include failure to issue cash receipts, discrepancies between fiscal devices and cash registers, non-compliant sales documents, and incorrect VAT calculations. Notably, the VAT rate for restaurateurs has changed from 9% to 20% since January 1.
As a result of the inspections, 332 traders have been issued acts of violation, 36 are pending sanctions, and 44 establishments face sealing. Inspectors have employed "open surveillance" techniques, staying in establishments for several days to monitor compliance, and using "mystery shoppers" to identify non-issuance of sales documents.
The NRA encourages citizens to use the NRA Mobile app to scan QR codes on receipts, ensuring accurate income reporting. Reports of non-compliance can be submitted via phone at 0700 18 700 or email at infocenter@nra.bg. This campaign underscores the NRA's commitment to combating income evasion, ensuring fair competition, and protecting consumer rights.
