Bulgaria is launching a nationwide campaign this month to educate citizens and businesses on the euro adoption process, backed by a 10 million leva budget from the Ministry of Finance. The campaign aims to address concerns, highlight benefits, and ensure a smooth transition to the eurozone.
Bulgaria is starting a nationwide information campaign on the adoption of the euro, set to launch this month. Finance Minister Temenuzhka Petkova announced during a parliamentary session that the delays in preparing and awarding public procurement for communication activities have largely been resolved, paving the way for the campaign's official rollout.
Petkova emphasized the government's dedication to ensuring a successful transition to the euro through a comprehensive media campaign. The initiative aims to inform citizens and businesses about the advantages and benefits of joining the eurozone. The Council of Ministers had previously allocated 10 million leva for this purpose under the Ministry of Finance's budget during the caretaker government's tenure.
The foundation for this campaign was laid as early as 2021, when Kiril Ananiev served as Finance Minister. During his term, a working version of the communication strategy for Bulgaria’s accession to the eurozone was developed, along with a draft of the national plan for the euro's introduction.
The upcoming campaign is expected to provide crucial information on the euro adoption process, addressing the concerns and expectations of both the public and the business community.
