General information
Since the French government has announced the exact dates of the implementation of new rules on e-invoicing and e-reporting, all stakeholders need to be prepared in advance for this transition, since the change will require significant effort by the companies. To be compliant with the new rules will imply changes in internal procedures and new configuration of IT systems. Although the initial rollout will start 18 months later than originally planned, on the 1st of July 2024, the initial testing phase of the new system will start on January 1st, 2024.
To lighten the burden on the businesses the French government is planning to implement a public invoicing portal that will be able to be integrated directly into the company’s IT system or already existing invoicing software.
To stay compliant, companies will have to wisely use this postponement to prepare and adjust to the new legislation, but also to anticipate possible effects of the new system on their business beyond VAT.
